Kevin Rudd has found a very interesting way to make Australia a republic - by turning public opinion against the Governor-General.
The woman he appointed to the position - Quentin Bryce has wasted far more money than any other Governor-General in Australian history. She recently spent $28,000 of our taxes on getting new clothes, and now it has just been revealed she spent $700,000 on a trip to Africa.
Her three week junket and the hefty price tag she has left the country with are an absolute disgrace. This woman is absolutely milking the position with Kevin Rudd's blessing so that when the time comes, Australians are going to be so fed up with footing her bills they'll vote for a republic.
Now I don't mind whether you support a republic or not, I just find this waste abhorrent. This woman is paid $400,000 a year - more than the Prime Minister. Surely she can afford do pay for some things of her own.
